Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the opening date Thursday at the company's annual shareholder meeting, as reported by Deadline.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the company's long-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge "lands" will open on May 31 and August 29 at Disneyland in Anaheim and DisneyWorld in Florida, respectively.

The new land, set on the planet Batuu, is slated to open to the public on May 31 at Disneyland in California, and on August 29 at Disney's Hollywood Studios in central Florida.

According to the Disney Parks blog, the anticipated addition is debuting earlier due to the "high guest interest".

Park visitors who stay at one of Disneyland's own hotels during that time will automatically receive one reservation for each guest.

It added, "Later this year, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open for phase two-and you'll find yourself in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance as you experience the most ambitious, immersive, and advanced attraction ever". Phase one of the opening will include the opening of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, plus a variety of shopping and food/beverage options. While a reservation isn't needed for visitors of the Disney World version, they will still need to purchase admission to the Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. The latest service will be the first to offer fixed-price streaming of Disney's popular content such as "Frozen", "Remember Me" and "Han Solo: A Star Wars Story".

With Disneyland expecting at least 200,000 guests on opening day, wait times for the two attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, may be as much as 10 hours.

The company is building a Tron-themed roller coaster in Orlando's Magic Kingdom and a new Marvel-themed land in California's Disneyland, among other new offerings.

Park Admission: Regular theme park admission is required to enter Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
