Snow, ice disrupt travel across the West

After the initial excitement of record-breaking warm weather in Toronto, Environment Canada has now issued a freezing rain warning.

Freezing rain and sleet is expected throughout SE Michigan overnight, beginning at about midnight to 1 a.m.

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery".

According to the weather warning, our region could experience freezing rain for much of Wednesday, before the precipitation changes into normal rain in the afternoon. This one looks to bring us mainly rain, but some ice is also possible.

"Stay off of any water bodies", said spokesperson Eleanor Heagy.

Increasing clouds Tuesday with light snow developing toward evening.

The UTRCA says its flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock Conservation areas are being used to reduce downstream flooding.

The advisory lasts until noon Wednesday. Any standing water tonight is expected to freeze over.

Chicago's weather roller coaster will take another tumble starting tomorrow; with temperatures that will be more than 20 degrees colder, and a mix of sleet and freezing rain coming through.

Winter Storm Warnings have been expanded to cover much of Carbon County, to include Rawlins, Baggs, Elk Mountain, and Arlington, as well as the Snowy Range today through Wednesday.
