Later in the show, Offset joined Cardi onstage as she accepted the award for Best Rap Album for her 2018 LP, Invasion of Privacy.
Cardi later dedicated her award to the late rapper Mac Miller, who was nominated with her for Best Rap Album.
She added, "I remember last year when I didn't win for "Bodak Yellow" and everyone was like, 'Cardi got snubbed.' Now this year's a f***ing problem?" The "I Like It Like That" rapper seemed speechless as she took the stage."Ooh".
But, the debate continues with no signs of ending.
At last night's Grammy Awards, it appears there were no major issues (at least nothing as bad as a change-prompting ways of last year). Cardi said, after thanking her family and team members.
In a now deleted post, Bardi went on a tirade against her haters. "I work hard for my mother f-king album".
"After a week of only saying papa! She saying mama!"
"Every award to me is special", she said.
Grande was also a victor, taking him Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.
She then crafted the opening into a lovely jazz melody, before concentrating on the bass end of the piano - creating the ideal level of drama to introduce Cardi to the stage.
Her risque video for the track wowed the internet for scenes that show Cardi breast-feeding, pole-dancing and playing the piano naked, as women shower other women in cash.
But no matter what comes next, there is little doubt Cardi from the Bronx will keep building her brand where she began: speaking to her fans directly, and keeping it real.
