The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, have finally touched down in Ghana to begin their historic visit.

It would be recalled that the Prince of Wales's last visit to Ghana was in March 1977. Mike Ocquaye and other top Ghanaian government officials.

Prince Charles's arrival in The Gambia was the first royal visit since the 2017 ousting of President Yahya Jammeh who withdrew from the Commonwealth and threatened to change the country's official language from English.

Prince Charles who arrived in Gambia on Wednesday evening is expected to visit the Medical Research Council and conduct a tour of the Gambian Armed Forces Training Centre, who are training to play a rôle in the United Nations. "Some of them were happy, some of them not so happy".

Charles said returning to Kumasi brought back fond memories of time he spent in the city 41 years ago. "It's a relationship that we value", Nana Akufo-Addo said. The Prince and The Duchess will then attend a traditional durbar or procession at the palace with the Asantehene and local chiefs.

It seems like Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, have taken a page out of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's book when it comes to royal PDA.

Despite the heat, Prince Charles looked his usual dapper self in a pale grey suit, complete with a lilac shirt, patterned tie and a smart pocket square.

The tour will celebrate the U.K.'s dynamic, forward-looking partnership with these Commonwealth nations on a range of shared priorities.

Ghana is the ninth country to enter into the Commonwealth, an intergovernmental organisation comprised of 53 member states that are mostly former territories of the British Empire.
