Windows 10 October Update May Wipe Files, Have Driver Issues

The Update Assistant is an official program by Microsoft to update older versions of Windows 10 to newer versions introduced by feature updates. And, hey, maybe you'll learn something new that you can incorporate into your daily routine. As Microsoft puts it, "Now, your PC's timeline is available on your phone, so you can scroll back in time to find the files and websites you were using on your phone, computer and tablet".

There are also improved tools for dealing with PDFs in Edge, enabling you to more easily read documents or add notes. Microsoft says it will make the update available to PCs when they are ready for it. 'We've worked for many years to make Windows the best platform for PC Gaming and believe that DirectX Raytracing is a major leap forward for gamers on our platform.

Microsoft Launcher 5.0 is rolling out today for beta users, and will likely roll out to the public in the coming weeks. iPhone users can expect to see Timeline support show up within the Microsoft Edge app as beta in the next month or so.

The company is also advising users with the affected Intel drivers against manually updating to Windows 10 1809.

Microsoft sets out its list of features that are being removed or deprecated in the next Windows 10 release.

The new clipboard experience allows you to access your clipboard history, pin items you commonly use, and copy content across devices.

Aside from DXR, the Windows 10 October Update also packs other features.

For any folks that want a Desktop OS well that's in the cloud and for a fee and that's what windows 10 will be, take it or leave it. As for the workaround, Microsoft recommends selecting the back button when you see the "what needs your attention" notification to just go back to your current Windows 10 version.
