Le'Veon Bell used emoji to respond to Steelers tie

Both Browns coach Hue Jackson and defensive end Myles Garrett wondered aloud and complained about the roughing the passer penalty issued to Garrett in the season-opening tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The beleaguered Browns have two of those losses and now the tie.

"I kind of prepare (to start) every week regardless of if you are or aren't", Sutton said Monday. "It was blocked. We felt good about it when we went out there".

"As I said last night, again I don't want to keep elaborating on it - the personnel, obviously as you guys saw, Josh wasn't in quite a few play after that, " Jackson said.

"We didn't finish it". And it's very possible that the Cleveland Browns are just going to keep getting better, and that this gritty performance was a marker for their come up after being the NFL's perennial cellar dweller for years. He forced two fumbles, recorded two sacks and rushed Roethlisberger into making some indecisive throws. And yeah, he got beat for a touchdown, but it took a ideal pass from Ben to Brown to beat him. "The game's over with now, so to talk about it, what's it going to do?" Gordon was the only receiver on the field with tight ends David Njoku, Seth DeValve and Darren Fells. He also caught five passes for 57 yards receiving.

Still, a tie against the Browns can't hurt Bell's efforts to negotiate a new deal. He also caught one pass for three yards. Carlos Hyde punched it in to narrow the gap to 21-14. He then lobbed up a jump ball after seeing Gordon lined up in single coverage against Cameron Sutton. That march tied the game at 7 with 10:05 left in the quarter. Taylor lined up in shotgun for the next play.

Garrett took down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for a third-down incompletion and was called for a personal foul. James Conner is expected to start at running back in Bell's place.

After being up 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, the Steelers allowed the Browns to score twice in the game's final quarter to force overtime.

Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey believed before the game that the Steelers would be disadvantaged without Bell, but that proved not to be the case.

That being said, we'll try to pick out some of the standouts from the Steelers in this matchup. He did, but he didn't have much impact the way Haley thought he would.

"We got to play better offensively", Jackson said.

DeSean Jackson caught scoring passes of 58 and 36 yards to highlight his five-catch, 146-yard day before leaving with a concussion. But the Browns punt from their own 26 after Bud Dupree batted a pass intended for Jarvis Landry. The first rookie to pick off two passes in his National Football League debut in 25 years, both coming in the first half. That's right, it has been 14 years since Cleveland won in Week 1.

Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman was inaccurate and under pressure until being replaced by rookie first-round draft pick Josh Allen with 11:22 remaining in the third quarter.

It was a tough week for Browns rookie guard Austin Corbett. All in all, it was a challenging afternoon for the line. On one drive, Joel Bitonio and Harrison were flagged for back-to-back false starts.
