House Of Cards has killed off its main character.

It's now not known exactly how Frank met his demise and if the series will directly address his death.

The trailer gave no details of how Underwood dies in the show but Netflix has said that the sixth and final season of the show will focus on Wright's devious character, who became US president at the end of season five. "When they bury me, it won't be in my backyard. And when they pay their respects", she says, turning to the camera, "they'll have to wait in line".

The sneak peek finds Claire speaking to Frank at his grave stone (He's been buried next to his father).

It was widely expected that the character, played by the now-disgraced Kevin Spacey, would be killed off screen after the actor was embroiled in scandal late previous year. Remember, Spacey was ousted past year following harassment allegations by Anthony Rapp and people who were on set of the Netflix drama. He was later sacked from the series. Plummer was later nominated for an Oscar for the role.

"House of Cards" put Netflix on the map as a home for original entertainment when the series debuted in 2013 starring Spacey.

Netflix has said the season will focus on Wright's devious character, who became United States president at the end of season five.

As previously reported, Robin Wright is stepping into the spotlight as the new president of the United States.

Netflix has just dropped a short but significant preview of House of Cards season 6, and it reveals that Frank Underwood is dead.
