It's technically not even confirmed that Phoenix is this movie's Joker, just that he's the star.
What do you make of the new look for the Joker? He boops him. It's cute. The film also stars Robert De Niro in a supporting role, who played the lead in both King of Comedy and Taxi Driver to great acclaim.
Director Todd Phillips posted a picture of Phoenix in character on his Instagram page with the caption "Arthur". It will explore the life of a man destined to become Gotham City's Clown Prince of Crime.
A set of images of Joaquin on set were also shared on JustJared where Phoenix can be seen laughing manically and playing with a clown. Emma Tillinger Koskoff is producing the WB/Village Roadshow movie, which Richard Baratta is exec producing. It is worth noting that this film will not be associated with the DC film universe.
We do not yet have the vintage Joker look of Phoenix yet. "And sometimes that is uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it isn't, and so I always felt, like, there were characters in comics that were really interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of studied".
Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker film is expected to hit theaters on October 4, 2019. "And so I think that's what Todd sees appealing about this idea".
The now untitled movie is described as "an exploration of a man disregarded by society that is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale".
