Michael Cohen's lawyer admits to being source of CNN story

As President Donald Trump inches ever-closer to serious legal and political peril, his aides and advisors are increasingly anxious that he will do even more damage to himself by lashing out while he fluctuates between extreme moods, according to a new report from Vanity Fair reporter Gabriel Sherman.

McGahn is also a Trump outlier who recently admitted to working directly with Robert Mueller's Special Counsel investigators.

In recent days, one of Michael Cohen's lawyers has repeatedly changed his account of what Cohen knew about President Donald Trump's involvement in a controversial meeting during the 2016 campaign. If Cohen said the sun rises in the west and sets in the east and would be willing to tell Bob Mueller that, the truth of the underlying claim isn't salvaged by that willingness.

Davis told The Washington Post that he can not confirm media reports that Cohen is prepared to tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller that Trump had advance knowledge of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting, where Donald Trump Jr. expected to receive damaging information about Clinton from a Russian lawyer. "The answer is that I did NOT know about the meeting". Is he anxious that Cohen might be charged with perjury because he told Congress under oath months ago that he didn't know of any discussions between Trump and Junior about the Russian Federation meeting? What is more, Davis was a CNN source for what we now know is a steaming pile of very fake news.

And Bernstein swears on a stack of Bob Woodward's best-sellers that those sources-sources-sources were not Lanny Davis...

"Davis is now expressing regret for his role in all of this saying, 'I should have been more clear that I could not independently confirm what happened".

Davis also said on the network last week that the story's reporting "got mixed up" and that he was not the source. "We were not the source of the story". At least two of them, the New York Post and Washington Post, published stories this week that walked back their original stories.

Although the CNN reporting was proven to be wrong, they are continuing to support the story and are not offering a redaction.

We'll see how long that lasts.
