"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancel her show", ABC said. Series creator and star, Roseanne Barr took to social media to make a racist comment about former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, which has since been deleted.
Actor Josh Gad made a reference to Barr's later tweet, in which she said that Ambien sleeping pills had been to blame for her initial tweet about Ms Jarrett.
"I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks", Barr tweeted.
After ABC canceled her hit show "Roseanne" over her foul Twitter behavior, she went on another tweetstorm early Wednesday, retweeting fans who portrayed her as the victim of a liberal media double standard.
Arnold, a former writer on Roseanne, spoke out several times on Wednesday about Barr's racist tweets which led to the cancellation of the popular reboot.
She added that it "just shocked me a bit" and that she "indeed f***ed up".
Actress Minnie Driver tweeted: "So proud of @ABCNetwork for having the ethical compunction to cancel #Rosanne despite the show's huge numbers". She later sent dozens of tweets in which she apologized and offered up a number of reasons for her offensive comment. That's a fact. Donald Trump - Roseanne and I have both known him 30 years.
ABC and Disney had taken notable steps to be more inclusive in its entertainment, and Dungey is the first black to be entertainment president of a major broadcast network. She couldn't believe they'd call her out like that on such a public platform, but now after processing everything that has happened, she's forgiving them for doing so.
It was something rare in today's United States entertainment: a depiction of an extended working class family, including supporters of President Trump.
In one of the tweets that sparked outrage, she wrote, "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj". Admitting he was surprised by her allegiance, Barr said, "I'm still the same-you all moved!"
"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values", Dungey said in a statement, "and we have chose to cancel her show".
