Strive for Greatness: Looking back on LeBron James’ second stint with Cavaliers

LeBron James has until late Friday night to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers but rumors continue to swirl about his future.

Making things even trickier is that James wants to make a quick decision about where he's headed next once free agency begins on July 1, per ESPN.

On Tuesday, Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson laughed off the idea of being anxious about the pressure to bring superstars to Los Angeles, citing the number of NBA Finals he played in. The Lakers, the franchise Leonard wants to be traded to, did not have an encouraging initial conversation with the Spurs, ESPN reported recently.

It should be interesting to see how everything plays out between Leonard, the Lakers, James, and the Sixers over the next few days. "Here is what the Sixers would have to do to get LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard", O'Connor told The Ringer NBA Show. George had only one season remaining on his deal when the Pacers traded him last summer. Magic Johnson and the Lakers have put themselves in a position to sign two and possibly acquire a third max contract.

Both teams also believe a Leonard trade would "likely clinch" a commitment from LeBron James to join the Lakers as a free agent, per ESPN.

Earlier this month, former National Basketball Association star Gary Payton revealed that Bronny had "committed" to playing for Sierra Canyon, a prestigious private high school in the Los Angeles area. That's because 13-year-old "Bronny", a highly regarded basketball player in OH, is very "likely" to enroll at a prestigious Los Angeles high school, according to a TMZ Sports report Wednesday, although it's apparently "not a done deal".

"It's like "that deal is stupid for Kawhi" - yeah, the point is, that what is what they would give up in order to clear the salary cap space to also sign LeBron James". This would presumably make the Lakers' pitch to LeBron that much more enticing.
