'Fortnite' will be available on Switch, Nintendo confirms

"On Nintendo Switch, 'Fortnite Battle Royale' is the same game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile", Epic Games said in a release.

Epic Games recently announced a $100 million eSports prize pool for Fortnite, which absolutely dwarfs the $2 million prize pot for the game's closest rival: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. We assume that cross-play with all of these other platforms will be supported on the Nintendo Switch. Sure, I was hoping for some Nintendo-related goodies, but there's plenty of time for Ninty to add some of their trademark flourishes. "At Nintendo, we approach development with the goal of making new and unique games to delight and surprise people".

"This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch".

You can play Fortnite on a PC, switch to a MacBook, move to an iPhone, and play later on an Xbox One, then in the morning play on your Nintendo Switch, all on the same account. If you try and login to Fortnite on Switch, you'll receive an error message and there is no way to log out and try another account. While the contestants probably won't be playing on Switch, the announcement of a new version is a nice way to lead into the main event.

UPDATE: You can not move back and forth between PlayStation 4 and any other platform now - apparently now even if you've only logged on to a PSN for PS4 account for a moment. Well, you can, but you'll need to create a new account and start over.

Have you been patiently waiting for Nintendo to add more streaming partners to the Nintendo Switch?
