Fallen Kingdom' Pacing For $133 Million Opening Weekend

It turns out, one of the main characters in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is openly gay - although you'd never know it from the final cut that's headed to theaters.

The Jurassic World sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is off to a swell start at the box office, but don't go expecting Jurassic World-like numbers this weekend.

Indeed, Fallen Kingdom is now tracking to open in the $130 million to $140 million range, which taken separately is pretty great. While it's projected to open with far less than its predecessor, it will be interesting to see if it can still come close to Jurassic World's worldwide tally.

Although not the paragon that the original dino-drama directed by Steven Spielberg was, Jurassic World adequately brought prehistoric mayhem into the 21st century, nonetheless, to the tune of $1.6 billion globally, which was good enough for fifth on the all-time global gross chart.

By the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) frees the surviving dinosaurs from their cages and potential death due to a hydrogen cyanide leak. What did Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, and director J.A. Bayona have to say? - Dr. Ian Malcolm Perhaps there have been too many Jurassic Park movies, just throwing that out there.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the only major new release this weekend.
