Not only did they detail their new features coming to Battlefield V, they dropped the bombshell that Battlefield V will indeed feature a battle royale mode called "Royale" for now. Footage of the new mode was then teased in the latest game trailer, which debuted online shortly after the presentation.
At the conference, EA indicated that Battlefield V will be the "deepest" and "most immersive" game in the franchise.
As mentioned, this news comes hot on the heels of Activision's announcement last month that Black Ops 4 would have a Battle Royale mode.
Battlefield V releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19, 2018.
The addition of a battle royale mode should come at no surprise, considering the surge in popularity of titles like "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" and "Fortnite". "We'll bring you an experience that you haven't played before - in 'Battlefield, ' or anywhere else". Fans were frustrated that they didn't see much real gameplay, and confused if the characters they were seeing in the trailer were supposed to be historically accurate, or if they were part of the new customizable multiplayer character creator. Blackout, Call of Duty's version, is set to be available at launch.
Today's press conference also reiterated the message of "no loot boxes, no premium passes" for the upcoming first person shooter. Keep it locked to VGR and we'll let you know more about what we think as additional details leak out.
