Antoine Griezmann: Atletico Madrid forward to stay at La Liga club

Gerard Pique has wished Antoine Griezmann success despite the Atletico Madrid star's decision to snub Barcelona and remain at the Wanda Metropolitano beyond the World Cup.

He is now with the France squad, preparing for the World Cup, as Les Bleus kick off their campaign against Australia on June 16th.

Griezmann was impressive for Atletico in the last season, registering 25 goals, which included two in the Europa League final against Marseille.

'I have chose to stay, ' Griezmann said.

Juventus boss, Massimiliano Allegri, recently stated in an interview that his star player, Paulo Dybala, is certain to stay at the Serie A club for one more season at least.

In their bid to win the Spanish title next season, Diego Simeone has already secured a deal to sign Monaco's Thomas Lemar who is also Griezmann's worldwide teammate. 'We always come second or third. How much they won't pay me.

"It's a mess, you have to think it over". And the Frenchman admitted it affect him and his family, though Diego Simeone did go to see him. "But the truth is what I am going to say now".

"'Let's talk a little bit', he told me".

"They are doing everything possible to make sure the team keeps growing".

After France take on the Socceroos on Saturday, Didier Deschamps men face up against Peru and finally Denmark in Group C.

Earlier this week, Atletico announced a deal in principle to sign Griezmann's France worldwide teammate Thomas Lemar from Monaco for a reported €60 million transfer fee as part of an effort to persuade him to remain at the club.
